What resource management tips help with your first storage and Food Store?

Resource management tips for your first stores

Build farms early, then watch how quickly your town uses and stores Food. Add storage when your resource stores are reaching their limits, and add Food Store capacity when Food is piling up above its limit and spoiling. Keep production in step with capacity and needs, and wait to train more soldiers until your food supply can support them.

Why capacity matters from the start

Your town’s fields produce Coal, Iron, Water, Food and Gears every hour. But production is only useful when there is room to keep what it makes. Storage sets that limit for resources, while the Food Store sets a separate limit for Food.

When a resource store is full, you cannot keep more than its capacity. That can leave you short of a resource you need later, even though its field is producing. Food has an extra concern: Food kept above the Food Store limit slowly spoils. So a full Food Store is not a reason to stop checking your supply; it is a cue to look at your capacity and use.

Put food first, then match capacity to production

Workers and soldiers eat Food every hour. A new town has a little slack, but that does not make food needs disappear. If Food runs out, hungry soldiers leave, so farms deserve early attention before you expand your army.

Think of storage and production as a pair. More fields can fill a store sooner, while more capacity gives you room to keep their output. There is no single build order for every town in the fact sheet, so use what you can see: if Food is low or its rate looks worrying, build farms; if a store is at its limit, consider more storage or a larger Food Store for Food.

A practical order for your first buildings

Begin by increasing food production, and keep an eye on the Food rate before training soldiers. Then check the other resources and their stores. Raise the production of a resource you need, but remember that a field can only help your stock if there is room to hold its output.

Upgrading the Engine Hall makes all building faster and gives room for more workers. Workers do both building and field work, and they also eat Food. Treat that upgrade as part of the same balance: more room for workers is useful, but food production still needs attention. In Zone77, a steady town is built by checking needs and capacity together, rather than filling every field without a plan.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Check your food situation

Look at Food before planning other growth. Workers eat every hour, and soldiers do too. If your supply looks thin, add farms early instead of training more soldiers.

  2. Step 2: Notice which stores are near their limits

Check storage for your other resources and the Food Store for Food. A store at its limit cannot hold more, so its field’s output may not become stock you can use.

  3. Step 3: Build production for the resource you need

Mines, wells and farms produce resources each hour. Upgrade the field for a resource that is falling behind, while keeping its available storage in mind.

  4. Step 4: Add capacity where it will help

If ordinary resources are reaching storage limits, consider expanding storage. If Food is accumulating above the Food Store limit, that excess slowly spoils; more Food Store capacity can give you room to keep it.

  5. Step 5: Recheck before expanding your workforce or army

Workers and soldiers add to Food consumption. Watch the Food rate after changes, and avoid treating a full store as proof that your town has all the food it needs for future growth.

Questions and answers

Why does Food spoil when the Food Store is full?

Food kept above the Food Store limit slowly spoils. The store’s capacity matters as much as farm production: producing extra Food does not mean all of it can be kept. Check whether you need more Food Store capacity or can use the supply for your town’s needs.

What happens when ordinary storage is full?

You can only keep as much of each resource as your storage holds. If a store is full, additional production cannot be kept there. Check your capacity alongside your fields so you can decide whether to add storage or focus production on another resource.

Should I build farms before training soldiers?

Build farms early and watch the Food rate before training more soldiers. Soldiers eat Food every hour, and hungry soldiers leave if Food runs out. Keeping food production in view helps you avoid running out of resources needed to sustain your town.
