Strategy
How can I decide how to manage resources across coal, iron, water, food and gears?
Balance Your Town's Core Resources With Care
Balance resources by checking what your town produces, uses and can store before choosing the next field or building upgrade. Keep food production in view alongside ongoing hunger, respond when storage limits constrain you, and avoid raising one output without a reason. Treat gears as part of the same plan, then review the picture as your town grows.

Start with the hourly picture
Coal, iron, water, food and gears are all part of your town’s resource balance. Mines, wells and farms produce resources each hour, and improving a field increases its output. Workers and soldiers also eat food every hour, so a resource plan should account for ongoing needs as well as what you hope to build next.
Before choosing an upgrade, ask which resource is holding back your next decision. If you have plenty of one material but little of another, improving the already plentiful field may not help. Think in terms of what the town needs next, rather than making every field grow in step. For more on the basics, see the guide to resources.

Give each upgrade a reason
A useful building choice responds to a real pressure. An upgrade to a resource field can lift its hourly production, while an Engine Hall upgrade makes building faster and gives the town room for more workers. Since workers eat food, consider food production before increasing room for workers. The point is not to favor one building every time, but to understand what the choice changes.
Several things can be built at once, and work continues while you are offline. That gives you room to set up more than one improvement, but it still pays to choose deliberately. For example, if food is already tight, adding worker capacity without thinking through food could leave your town with a harder balance to manage. If your question is about the wider layout, see the guide to your town.

Let storage guide your pace
Production is useful only if your town can keep what it makes. You can store resources only up to the capacity available, so check storage before increasing output across several fields. If a store is at its limit, another production upgrade may add less practical value than making room or focusing on a resource you can still use.
Food deserves its own check. A Food Store lets you keep more, but food held above its limit slowly spoils. Avoid treating a full store as a reason to keep raising food output without considering hunger and capacity. The goal is a dependable supply for workers and soldiers, not an overflowing reserve that cannot be kept.
Keep gears in the same plan
It is easy to focus on coal, iron, water and food because their roles are easy to picture. Gears belong in the same planning conversation: they are one of the five resources, so remember to check them when weighing your next choices. Do not assume a strong balance in the other four means every need is covered.
A simple habit helps: look at production, food needs and available storage, then decide which improvement addresses the most important gap. Revisit that decision as the town grows. In Zone77, the best balance is not a fixed recipe; it is a set of choices that keeps your next plans possible without neglecting what the town uses each hour.
Questions and answers
Why should food production be part of a resource plan?
Workers and soldiers eat food every hour. If food runs out, hungry soldiers leave the town, so check your food supply before training more soldiers or expanding the number of workers.

What should I do when storage is full?
Remember that resources cannot be kept beyond your storage capacity. Check which resources you need next and whether more room or a different field upgrade would better support your plans.
